During an interview with Motoring, Aston Martin director of global marketing comms, Simon Sproule, revealed that over 450 people want the AM-RB 001 hypercar. Having capped the production at 150 cars (still to be confirmed), there are going to be some rather disappointed wealthy individuals.
“A couple of years ago we had the holy trinity of cars that all came out at the same time from Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren, and there were many collectors that had to have all three in their set. We now have the [AM-RB] 001 and I think a lot of those same collectors are saying they need one of our cars in their collection,” Sproule said.
It’s been confirmed that most of the model’s power will come courtesy of a naturally-aspirated V12 engine. An electric motor may also be installed to lift power to upwards of 1,000 hp. In conjunction with a sub-1,000 kg kerb weight and advanced aerodynamics, Aston Martin says the AM-RB 001 will be as fast as a Formula 1 car around a racetrack.
