So we finally have some official information from the manufacturer itself regarding their highly anticipated super saloon, the new M5. Is is being described as the “most exciting and emotionally enthralling high-performance sedan” ever created by BMW M but what can we expect when it does actually arrive?
- 4.4-litre TwinPower Turbo V8 producing 600 PS (592 hp) and over 700 Nm of torque
- 8-speed M Steptronic transmission
- 0 to 100km/h in less than 3.5 seconds (will it match or beat the E63 S?)
- M xDrive all-wheel drive system
- It will remain RWD most of the time as traction is only sent to the front wheels when needed
- The AWD system will have three different modes including: 2WD, 4WD, and 4WD Sport
- 2WD setting deactivates the all-wheel drive system and turns the model into drifting machine
- New active M Differential
- Interior follows in the footsteps of the standard model but the M5 has been equipped with a new shifter and an M sports steering wheel with two individually configurable M Drive buttons.
- You will also get an improved Head-Up Display with new graphics, navigation functionality, and a 70% larger viewing area.
