Why is this model so important?
Coupé and convertible versions of model series are regarded as range-topping image builders. While the previous generation C-Class only got a coupé late in its model cycle, Mercedes vowed not to let BMW and Audi yet again walk away with all the sales in this segment.
What does this mean?
In the past, the coupé models’ exclusivity often meant it was vastly more expensive than its more sedate siblings. Component sharing brought down costs, and since the C-Class coupé shares its underpinnings, mechanical hardware, much of the interior and even a few body parts with the four-door sedan, costs could be contained and hence there is not that much of a premium to be paid to enjoy the svelte look and sophistication associated with the coupé shape. It means running costs and all other expenses are in line with the four-door models.
What’s the fuss about?
Lightweight construction to reduce weight, excellent aerodynamics and high-performance, efficient engines play their part to promise an enjoyable ownership experience. A host of assistance systems provides safety of the very highest calibre.
In keeping with Mercedes traditions, the body shell is designed for exemplary crash safety. The coupé not only meets all current national and international laws, but also all rating requirements as well as the more stringent internal Mercedes safety requirements, which are based on what actually happens in real-life accidents.
Powerful and efficient four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with start/stop function provide for sporty performance and driving pleasure. Compared with their predecessors, they consume up to 20% less fuel.
In all, this car is safe, economical, and fun to own!
