Last week we shared the news with you that a new Stratos is headed for production (albeit a very short production) and now we know you need some serious change to place your order for one.
This new little monster is not being built by Lancia but is rather a coachbuilt special designed by Pininfarina and built by Italian firm Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT) on the bones of a Ferrari 430 Scuderia.
They are only going to be building 25 units with an eye-watering starting price tag of $617,000. We just mentioned that it will be built on the bones of the 430 Scuderia and this price does not include the donor car required. In South Africa you are in for at least R7,3 million for the conversion and an extra R5,5 million for the 430 Scud so you will need to part with about R12,8 million for this franken-creation.
To make it even more difficult, if you want one, you will need to source the prancing horse yourself but it seems there are individuals who really want one as MAT has a dozen customers lined up. If this is anything to go by, the 25 units will be filled up in no time at all and the world will have 25 less 430 Scuderia’s roaming the streets.
The conversion process involves shortening the 430 Scud’s 102-inch wheelbase by almost 8.0 inches. The stock 523 hp 4.3-litre V8 remains, though for additional cost MAT can boost output to over 600 horses. Another option MAT is looking to offer is a Safari version for tearing up dirt trails.
