The RS brand is 50 years old now and Ford are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the RS brand with something rather special.
What you are seeing is a limited version called the Focus RS Heritage Edition and it is a production run of just 50 right-hand-drive cars all headed for the UK. These 50 units will actually be the final right-hand-drive versions of this generation of the car.
Each car will be finished in a bespoke Deep Orange paint job which is very nicely complimented by grey brake callipers behind black forged alloy wheels, and black door mirrors and rear spoiler.
The Heritage Edition get’s the partial leather Recaro seats, privacy glass, a sunroof, rear parking sensors, power-fold door mirrors, cruise control with speed limiter and heated steering wheel as standard whereas these are all optional extra’s in the regular model.
Now what would a special edition car be without a little performance tune? Well Mountune are responsible for this task which includes an upgrade in the form of a high-flow induction kit, uprated turbo re-circulating valve and calibration.
These changes push overboost power from 345 hp (257 kW) to 370 hp (275 kW), and torque from 470 Nm to 510Nm.
To round it all off, the Heritage RS benefits from a front mechanical Quaife limited-slip differential (LSD) for sportier handling.
Andy Barratt, chairman and managing director, Ford of Britain, said: “The RS brand is hugely important to Ford and is recognised across the globe, however it has a special place in the hearts of UK Ford fans. This latest model is the best RS we’ve ever produced, so it seems a fitting tribute as we approach its 50th anniversary.”
