While there is little information on the new upcoming Polo GTI, VW has confirmed what we will be finding under the bonnet.
A 197bhp (146 kW) 2.0-litre TSI engine from the previous Golf GTI will sit up front meaning it will be more powerful and noticeably faster than the one it will replace. The current hot Polo pushes out 189bhp with a 0 to 100km/h time of 6.7 seconds but with the ‘new’ power plant it could quite easily improve by half a second.
You will also get lowered sports suspension, sporty alloys and the usual GTI trimmings, but overall the next Polo will probably not be a game-changer in terms of design. The new Polo GTI should arrive at the end of the year.
