It was inevitable that some hero was going to come along and do an engine swap in the new BMW M2 but we didn’t anticipate that it would happen so quickly. Swiss firm Dähler Design & Technik GmbH are not offering a ‘tuning job’ by dropping the M4’s straight-six into the new M2 Coupe. They offer three different packages but the one we are talking about is an entire engine swap by installing an upgraded version of the S55 from the latest M3/M4. You may ask just how much do they tune the S55 unit? Well it’s updated numbers are 531 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque which allow the M2 to hit 100 km/h from standstill in under 4 seconds and go all the way to 320 km/h.
The tune includes some lowered and adjustable coil-over suspension, a high-performance 8-piston brake system with 400mm disks, and a stainless steel exhaust system, all developed and produced in-house by Dähler. The only exterior changes made to the car are the black- trimmed bumper and side vents, plus the optionally available front lip spoiler, rear wing and 20-inch staggered wheels. Dähler has yet to release pricing on any of the tuning programs it offers for the M2 Coupe.
