A source within BMW told Motoring that the second-gen X1 could spawn a range-topping M version. This source said that an M version of the company’s smallest SUV make sense but they have not decided whether it is worth making. If it does see the green light, you can expect it to be much more powerful than the current range-topping xDrive25i which pumps out about 228 horses from its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. The X1 M will propably have around 290 horsepower and would obviously get the usual plethora of M bits and pieces to make it look the part too. Who thinks this is a good idea?
