So summer has ended, and you learned that having kids with you on a long road trip can be very draining. Your kids become restless, impatient, and are looking to do something now. If you can’t find a way to keep their time consumed, they could ultimately drive you crazy.
What can you do? Well there are a handful of great games you can play with your kids during your next road trip to avoid that stress driven headache. The best part is you don’t even need to really spend a lot of money to keep your kids occupied with DVDs or mobile devices.
Here a few ideas to start off with:
- A dry erase board is surprisingly powerful in terms of eating up a kid’s time while you are on the road. They can play tic-tac-toe, or hangman, or simply just draw and color on them.
- Books, yes we said books. You will be surprised that if you provide kids with the option of reading, they will do so. This could be a great chance for you to work with your child as they progress through their learning to read.
- The Alphabet game is a classic game to play at any age. It is also a great time to encourage a young child to learn the alphabet and recognize the letters of the alphabet.
- Lastly this might not be a game that the kids might enjoy, but it surely is an activity that the parents will enjoy. A nap. It is always ideal to make sure you have some pillows or blankets ready for when the kids tire out, and seek a moments rest.
These are just a few things to consider doing with your next family road trip, either the upcoming holiday season, or even for next summer. If you have other great games to play while in the car, we would love to hear what you have come up with.
