Mike Newman, former bank manager, has just become a record holder after the Porsche 911 he was driving topped out at a blistering 300 km/h. The 52 year old achieved this at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground while only being assisted over radio. This was only 7 km/h faster than the previous record which was help by Metin Senturk who hit 293 km/h in a Ferrari F430. Mike Newman is now running Speed of Sight charity full time as he wants to encourage disabled people to participate in as many Motorsport activities as possible. This is just fantastic to hear.
