This came as quite a surprise to me when I heard that we had a limited edition Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1 in South Africa so I managed to track down the owner and get some pictures and information as proof. Let me begin by explaining this limited edition Ferrari. It was launched by Ferrari to celebrate 60 years of Formula 1 and was applied to the HGTE version of the 599 GTB. This meant that the car had a stiffer ride, less under-steer increased responses to driver commands and improved road-holding. The exterior of the car comes in 3 different liveries; 375 F1 livery, Ferrari 150 Italia livery and Ferrari 150 Italia 2 livery.
This particular car arrived in SA with the 375 F1 livery which is the same historic red (darker red) used on Frolian Gonzalez’s 385 F1. The difference with this one is that Viglietti (Ferrari dealer in South Africa) then went and got the white details put on the car to make it look like the Ferrari 150 Italia 2 livery or Alonso for short. This features white on the lower part of front bumpers, mudguards, bonnet, A-posts and buttresses. All versions of this car come with the Scuderia Ferrari shield on the front wheel arches which is painted on, 20″ diamond-finish rims and a satin-finish aluminium fuel cap.
To finish off the interior of the car, each car was given a special silver plaque commemorating 60 years of Ferrari victories with the signatures of Frolian Gonzalez and Fernando Alonso.
